TEAM HISTORY
KW Titans
WE ARE EXCITING PROFESSIONAL BASKETBALL!
The KW Titans are a community-owned professional basketball franchise that respects, reflects and inspires the citizens of Waterloo Region with exciting, family-friendly entertainment.
The team was founded in 2016 by Ball Construction, local entrepreneurs Leon Martin, Jeff Berg and Brian Foster. These original owners established a character-led team culture that’s respected throughout the league and remains an integral part of the KW Titans community.
TEAM MARKET OWNERS
Our team is 50 percent owned by season ticket holders and operates under a not-for-profit structure that diverts profits into local minor sports. The remaining 50 percent of the team is retained by David & Kate Schooley, who pledge to make the franchise one-hundred percent community owned in the next 10 years or less.
TEAM HISTORY
Sudbury 5
The team was originally approved by the National Basketball League of Canada (NBL Canada) to begin play for the 2017–18 season, but was pushed back to the 2018–19 season. The organization announced their team name, Sudbury Five, and colours in May 2018. Logan Stutz was named the team’s first general manager and head coach on 9 August. The team took part in the 2018 entry draft with the other nine NBL Canada teams and later received the Niagara River Lions‘ protected player list after that team left the league.
The team’s second season was curtailed by the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic and the following 2020–21 season was cancelled by the league.

TEAM HISTORY
Windsor Express
The Windsor Express has a new look as it streams its way into the new Basketball Super League, the largest professional basketball league in North America.
On June 28, 2012, the NBL announced that Windsor had been awarded an expansion team for the 2012–13 season. As the eighth franchise, the league created divisions and placed the Express in the Central Division. On August 1, 2012 the team nickname was officially confirmed. The Express name is partially a tribute to the Underground Railroad and to the rail yards on the banks of the Detroit River.
The team compiled a 22–18 record in its inaugural year, placing second in the Central Division and being seeded 3rd in the playoffs. It lost its only post-season series, a semifinal against the Summerside Storm, three-games-to-two.
On April 17, 2014, the Express won their first championship against the Island Storm (formerly Summerside Storm), 121–106.
The Express were named the 2015 NBL of Canada Champions on April 30, 2015 when the Halifax Rainmen forfeited game 7 after events that transpired earlier in the day. Halifax opted to forfeit the game and leave Windsor, where the game was set to take place, due to an on-court altercation between the two teams earlier in the day.
