(Greater Sudbury, ON) – The Basketball Super League has named Montreal Toundra power forward Kyle Steward the Player of the Week for the week of February 16th-22nd after an impressive three-game weekend, fueling the Toundra’s red-hot six-game heater.
Kyle Steward had a standout performance against the Lake Erie Jackals on February 20th, pouring in 27 points to lead the offence in a 121-109 win. Aggressive from the opening tip-off, Steward attacked the rim, shooting 50% from the floor and 79% from the line. He was also making his presence felt defensively, adding six rebounds and four steals.
He followed that up the next night against the Newfoundland Rogues with a solid 11-point outing in a 118-108 victory. While his scoring dipped slightly, Steward remained efficient and composed, taking what the defence gave him and contributing within the flow of the offence. Steward went three for eight from the field and a perfect four for four from the line. His defensive energy and off-ball effort create space for his teammates as Montreal continues to win.
Steward capped the three games with a 16-point night in a 107-94 win over the Rogues, helping the Toundra secure their sixth straight victory. Finding his rhythm early and delivered whenever momentum began to shift. Steward converted 70% from the floor while also recording four rebounds, one assist, and one steal, showcasing his ability to play all sides of the ball. Kyle Steward, in 14 games played this season, is averaging 13.9 points per game, 3.9 rebounds per game, 0.9 assists per game, and shooting 40.8% from the field goal.
