Basketball Super League Player of the Week – February 23rd-March 1st

(Greater Sudbury, ON) – The Basketball Super League has named Montreal Toundra guard Tafari Beckford the Player of the Week for the week of February 23rd – March 1st after a consistent three-game week, helping Montreal extend its win streak to nine games. 

The Skokie, Illinois native delivered a clutch 18-point performance in a thrilling one-point victory over the Lake Erie Jackals on February 27th. Beckford shot just under 40% from the floor while converting at an impressive 85% clip from the free-throw line. He added five rebounds and two assists, making his presence felt on both ends of the court. 

In Saturday’s matchup against the equally red-hot Windsor Express, Beckford elevated his play even further. He shot 43% from the field and a perfect 100% from beyond the arc, while knocking down 66.7% of his free throws. Beyond his scoring efficiency, he impacted the game across the stat sheet, collecting six rebounds and three assists in another strong two-way outing. 

Sunday’s rematch with the Express was a similar story. Beckford continued his consistent play, shooting an impressive 63.6% from the field, 50% from three-point range, and 66.7% from the free-throw line. He chipped in five rebounds and one assist, helping fuel the Toundra’s momentum as they extended their hot streak. 

Tafari Beckford, in 15 games played this season, is averaging 14.9 points per game, 6.4 rebounds per game, 2.9 assists per game, and shooting 46.5% from the field.
