Basketball Super League Player of the Week – March 9th-15th

Player of the week: Dane Miller

(Greater Sudbury, ON) – The Basketball Super League has named Lake Erie Jackals guard Dane Miller the Player of the Week for March 9-15 after a strong three-game week.  

 Dane Miller was outstanding on both ends of the floor over the three-game stretch, averaging 30.7 points per game while shooting an efficient 52.5% from the field and 81% from the free-throw line. His offensive production was complemented by strong all-around play, as Miller also totalled 34 rebounds, 11 assists, five steals, and two blocks during the span. The veteran forward’s ability to impact the game in multiple facets helped drive his team’s success, showcasing his leadership, versatility, and consistent presence on both ends of the court.

Being a key offensive starter for the Jackals throughout the week, the 35-year-old showcased his ability to score while still making an impact on the defensive end. Miller has been highly productive since joining Lake Erie, consistently providing leadership and versatility on the floor. On March 11th, Miller delivered an outstanding 43-point performance against the KW Titans, shooting an efficient 68.2% from the field while also recording nine rebounds, two assists, and two steals. Despite his impressive outing, the Jackals ultimately fell to the Titans by a score of 136-113.  

 On Saturday, March 14th, the Jackals travelled north to take on the league-leading Sudbury Five. Miller continued his impressive stretch, scoring 22 points in the Jackals’ 141–127 loss. He remained efficient offensively, shooting 40% from the field, while making a major impact in other areas of the game. Miller was dominant on the glass, grabbing 20 rebounds, including 13 on the defensive end, while also contributing six assists and a steal, showcasing his ability to influence the game well beyond scoring. 

To wrap up the week, the Jackals travelled to KW on Sunday for a rematch of Wednesday’s matchup with the Titans. Miller once again led the offence, pouring in 27 points while adding five rebounds, three assists, two steals, and two blocks. His strong all-around performance helped power the Jackals to a 111–101 victory, earning redemption in the rematch.
