Jamestown Jackals Battle Hard but Fall to Sudbury Five in Thrilling Matchup

Sudbury, ON – January 18, 2025 – In an exciting encounter that showcased the resilience and talent of both teams, the Jamestown Jackals faced off against the Sudbury Five at the Sudbury Community Arena. Despite a valiant effort, the Jackals were narrowly defeated by a final score of 123-117.
The game began with a competitive first quarter, where the Jackals took a slight lead, ending the quarter at 26-20. However, the Sudbury Five surged in the second quarter, outscoring the Jackals 39-26, which allowed them to reclaim control and build a significant lead.
Key performances came from both sides. For the Jackals, Tyshon Pickett led the scoring with 21 points, while Devante Jamison contributed 22 points off the bench. The Jackals showcased strong rebounding with a total of 44 boards, including 13 offensive rebounds, and maintained a solid free throw percentage of 86.2%.
The Sudbury Five, however, were powered by Ja’myrin Jackson, who achieved a remarkable 30 points, along with 10 assists. Diego Bernard made a significant impact off the bench with 25 points, including an impressive 15 out of 16 from the free throw line. The Five capitalized on their free throw opportunities, finishing the game with a percentage of 80.8%.
The Jackals, now 4-5 on the season, are set to visit the Windsor Express on January 24, while the Sudbury Five, improving to 10-2, will head to Pontiac to face the Pharaohs on January 25.
