(Greater Sudbury, ON) – The Montreal Toundra secured a high-upside frontcourt presence by selecting Alexander “Alex” Leiba first overall in the Basketball Super League Draft following a standout showing at the BSL Draft Combine.

The 6’10” power forward/center impressed coaches and evaluators with his defensive intensity, athleticism, and relentless effort throughout testing and live play. Leiba showcased his ability to compete with seasoned professionals, earning his place among the top prospects of the class.

A New Jersey native, Leiba played Division III basketball at Penn State Harrisburg before completing his graduate year at Pepperdine University, where he also earned his Master’s degree in Business. Known for his rebounding, shot-blocking, and high-motor style of play, he brings a combination of heart and hustle that fits seamlessly with the Toundra’s identity.

“I’m going to give it all that I’ve got and do whatever it takes to win,” Leiba said, speaking on his commitment to Montreal and its fanbase.

The Montreal Toundra looks forward to welcoming Leiba as he begins his professional journey in the BSL.
