Sudbury, ON – January 4, 2025 – In an electrifying matchup, the Pontiac Pharaohs (3-7) faced off against the Sudbury Five (8-2) but fell short with a final score of 124 to 107. The game showcased the offensive prowess of both teams, but the Five’s strong performance, particularly in the first half, set the tone for the night.
The Pharaohs struggled early, scoring just 19 points in the first quarter while allowing the Five to storm ahead with 37. Despite a spirited effort in the second half, where they outscored Sudbury in the third quarter, the Pharaohs could not close the gap.
Leading the charge for the Pharaohs was James Towns, who delivered an impressive performance, scoring 36 points on 14-of-30 shooting. He was supported by Khalil Gracey and Lance Adams, who contributed 11 and 10 points respectively. However, the Pharaohs’ shooting percentage of 43.3% and a lack of rebounds (34 total) hindered their ability to maintain momentum.
On the other side, the Sudbury Five excelled with a field goal percentage of 51.1%. Ja’Myrin Jackson led the Five with 18 points, while Duane Notice and Jalon (JD) Miller added 17 and 20 points, respectively. The Five’s domination on the boards, pulling down 50 rebounds compared to the Pharaohs’ 34, proved crucial in their victory.
The Pharaohs will look to regroup as they prepare for a road trip to Newfoundland to take on the Rogues on January 11 & 12 for a two game mini-series. Sudbury will have a bit of a break as they don’t see action until January 17, 2025 when they host the Jamestown Jackals.
